Byrne Dry Pond is located to the south of Byrne Park on a parcel which is dedicated to the public for stormwater management purposes. The Byrneland Park Neighborhood was platted in 1988, and Byrne Dry Pond was designed to meet the City’s stormwater requirements at the time, which protected downstream properties from peak rates of stormwater runoff leaving the neighborhood. Today, the City has additional requirements to protect downstream properties from water quality and total water volume concerns. The City completed construction of a retrofit to the Byrne Dry Pond to provide water quality benefits and increase infiltration prior to discharging stormwater from the neighborhood in 2020.
