The Fitchburg Fire Department conducts routine fire inspections based on local, state, and national codes, to ensure the safety of our residents and visitors. These inspections are conducted once or twice a year, depending on the use of the building and whether or not it is protected by automatic sprinkler and/or fire alarm systems.
Company Inspections
Many times you will see the on-duty crew conducting the fire inspections as a group. There are several reasons for this:
- Every inspector sees things differently.
- Every time the crew conducts a fire inspection it is used as a training opportunity. As inspectors walk through buildings, it gives them a chance to look at the layout and construction of the building along with any known hazards that they may face.
- If the crew receives an emergency call, they are able to respond in a timely manner.
