[ARCHIVED] Shots Fired - 2600 block of Post Road

At approximately 1:41 P.M. officers from the Fitchburg Police Department responded to the 2600 block of Post Road for a report of multiple shots fired. A vehicle leaving the scene was stopped by responding officers and a twenty-one year old male with a gunshot wound to his foot was located. Two other males in the vehicle were detained for questioning. The male with the gunshot wound was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation indicates a disturbance involving two groups of males occurred in the 2600 block of Post Road. During the disturbance an exchange of gunfire occurred and the groups fled in opposite directions. Multiple shell casings from different caliber hand guns were recovered at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
