A media briefing, regarding the shooting that occurred yesterday on High Ridge Trail, will be held this afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at Fitchburg City Hall.

Incident Details:
Just before noon today, September 29, 2019, Fitchburg Police responded to reports of shots fired in the 2100 block of High Ridge Trail.
Initial responding officers found two people with gunshot wounds in a parking lot in the 2100 block of High Ridge Trail. One of the people had what is believed to be a non-life threatening gunshot wound, and the other person had what is believed to be a life-threatening gunshot wound. Both subjects were transported to an area hospital and no other information is available on their condition.
A third person later arrived at an area hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. This person is believed to have been shot during the initial incident that took place on High Ridge Trail.
Preliminary information indicates the people involved in this incident are known to one another and this does not appear to be a random crime.
Personnel from Fitchburg Police Department and Dane County Sheriff’s Office are investigating this incident. The Madison Police Department, Town of Madison Police Department, and the Verona Police Department assisted in the initial response at the scene. Investigating personnel will be on scene for the foreseeable future.
