On 12/11/19 at 1:04am, officers responded to the 3300 block of Leopold Way for a report of a Weapons Violation.
During the course of the investigation, it was determined a single shot was fired in a residence. The shot penetrated a wall, and damaged the sprinkler system, causing flooding in both the residence and an adjacent residence.
The adjacent residence was deemed uninhabitable due to the amount of water damage sustained. The American Red Cross was contacted, and assisted with temporary housing placement for the resident and their child.
A male juvenile was detained at the scene and later transported to the Juvenile Reception Center. The investigation is ongoing.
The City of Fitchburg Fire Department assisted with flooding clean up and controlling the excessive water flow from the damaged sprinkler system.
