[ARCHIVED] Stand Up to Property Crime

Fitchburg Police Department News

Early this morning we responded to a home on Corner Stone Way after a resident awoke to find two individuals in the kitchen. The individuals fled the home when the resident screamed.

It appears the suspects accessed the garage with a garage door opener from an unlocked car in the driveway and then gained access to the home via an unlocked door.

Before you go to bed tonight check to make sure:

•Your garage door is closed
•The door from your garage into your home is locked
•All car keys and fobs are accounted for and inside your home

If you park outside, remove keys and garage door openers from your vehicles. Make sure your vehicle is locked. Consider leaving exterior lights on or utilize motion detection lights. Create a nightly crime prevention routine.
