At approximately 2:45pm Monday Afternoon, June 12, 2023, Dane County Public Safety Communications (911) notified the Fitchburg Fire Department of a structure fire at 2501 Pheasant Ridge Trail in the City of Fitchburg. A resident of the property called 911 and reported the smell of smoke.
Police arrived on scene, reported alarms sounding and confirmed visible smoke on 2nd floor. Engine 3 arrived on scene and upgraded assignment to working still. Engine crew made entry and was able to extinguish fire quickly. Fire was controlled to area of origin.
We were able to confirm that the fire did not extend to neighboring units. Smoke infiltration was reported throughout the complex. We are working with property management to address building restoration. MG&E was on site to address any electrical hazards.
One unit will be displaced due to smoke and fire damage in the apartment. The rest of the building residents were able to return to their homes. The building fire alarms did activate. There were no sprinklers in the building.
Assistance was received from the Fitchburg Police Department, FitchRona EMS, Madison Fire Department, and Verona Fire Department.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by Fitchburg Fire Department.
