[ARCHIVED] Apply Now for the Citizen's Police Academy

Citizens Academy Applications Available

Apply Now for the Fitchburg Police Department Citizen's Police Academy

Are you interested in learning more about the role the police department plays in the community? Have you ever wondered what it's like to be a police officer?

The Fitchburg Police Department is pleased to announce its seventh annual Citizen's Police Academy Class.  The Citizen's Police Academy is a ten week program, beginning on September 7th, designed to inform those we serve about the role we play in the community. This experience provides a great deal of insight into the operations of the police department but is not a police training course.

Academy participants will have the opportunity to conduct mock traffic stops, process a mock crime scene, get hands on experience with the same defensive and arrest tactics taught to officers, learn how to safely drive an emergency vehicle on a race track, learn how to handle and have the opportunity to shoot department firearms and experience scenarios similar to those presented to law enforcement officer recruits in the academy. Finally, all academy participants will be able to participate in a ride-along with a patrol officer.

The academy is open to Fitchburg residents, or those who own or manage a business within the City of Fitchburg. Academy participants must be at least 18 years old. All applicants are subject to a background check.
