The Bike Patrol team is comprised of four officers and is supervised by a sergeant. Patrolling on a bike gives team members the ability to access places an officer in a car cannot and most importantly makes officers more visible and accessible to the public. Officers assigned to the unit can transport their bikes on their squad cars allowing them to quickly respond to calls if the need arises. In addition to using their bikes in their daily patrol duties, members of the Bike Patrol team work special events such as Fitchburg Days and Festa Italia. The bikes allow officers to quickly respond to situations in the crowded environment and increase visibility.
