Application & Fee

There is a nonrefundable application fee $60 and to be paid at the time the application is filed. Sound permits are required for any event in the City of Fitchburg using outdoor amplified sound with the exceptions listed below. 

The following are exempted from requiring a permit:

1. Cases of clear emergency.
2. Businesses which are on a fixed site and have drive-through services, auction services, and other similar businesses that use loudspeakers to service customers.
3. A private event on private property, provided that the sound amplifying device is not in violation of Sec. 74-111 and commences on or after 11:00 a.m .and ceases on or before 11:00 p.m.

All events requesting a sound permit must submit the appropriate application. Download the application form print, complete, and return it to the Clerk's Office. The application must be filed at least 30 days prior to the event.
