The Fitchburg Police Department is investigating a series of graffiti incidents and a shots fired incident on the west side of the City and is requesting help from the public.
Several racist and profane graffiti markings to public and private properties across the neighborhoods of Lacy Heights and Seminole Forest were discovered Thursday morning. Spraypainted graffiti was located on the area bike path, residential fences and mailboxes, and street signs. Specifically, the bike path and homes between Lacy Road and Schumann Drive, and between Endive Drive and Persimmon Drive.
We are asking residents in the area to review any available surveillance or doorbell camera footage from 4/8 at 5:00PM to 4/9 at 8:30AM, that may have captured suspicious activity related to this incident. Recordings of suspicious persons or activity that may seem unrelated could still be valuable to the investigation.
On Thursday night at around 10:15 p.m., officers responded to Quarry Vista Park after receiving multiple 911 calls from residents hearing gunshots. Officers responded and discovered numerous spent casings in the park and bike path. There were no reported injuries. The park is directly behind of several homes on the same parcel of land and close proximity to where the casings were recovered.
The investigations for each are ongoing and anyone with information or video is encouraged to contact the Fitchburg Police Department at (608) 270-4300, or the Non-Emergency Dispatch (608) 255-2345.
