[ARCHIVED] FACTv Now on Apple TV & Roku

City of Fitchburg, WI - Fitchburg Access Community Television (FACTv) has added two new media outlets to its large list of options for their residents to watch local community media. FACTv is now on Apple TV and Roku following an upgrade to their broadcast system.

"This is a great advancement for FACTv", said Jeremy Crosby, Community Media Services Manager for the City of Fitchburg. "We have done a great job since our overhaul and reboot in 2010, to stay on the cutting edge of technology and help our residents have easy access to their local community media stations."  FACTv is made up of three channels - F1 Media, F2 Community, and F3 Government Channel. Each channel is broadcasting 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

"Getting on Apple TV and Roku is a big deal right now in the Public, Education, and Government TV world. Stations across the US are looking for new ways to reach their audiences through any media outlet available. People have changed their viewing habits over the years and we need to continue to adjust to evolving viewing outlets."

FACTv was able to move forward with broadcasting to an over-the-top (OTT) system at an affordable price. Jeremy says, "our Cablecast installation from Tightrope Media Systems started offering OTT broadcasting late last year. With the current system we had in place, we were able to update our system with the new technology without any new hardware. I want to make sure everyone has access to our programing whether they have cable, internet, or an OTT system."

Today, FACTv broadcasts over 180 meetings each year on their Government Channel F3, most televised live. The Community Channel F2 features locally created shows by FACTv and local producers from Dane County and across Wisconsin. They also have a daily newscast called Talking Fitchburg which airs live every weekday at noon. In February, FACTv also launched a three-hour programing block called Fitchburg Morning. Starting at 9 am, up-to-date information with half-hourly local news updates, upcoming city meetings and events, recent Talking Fitchburg interviews, and more, is broadcast, Monday through Friday.

FACTv can be viewed through AT&T U-Verse, Spectrum, TDS TV, and through the City of Fitchburg website at www.fitchburgwi.gov/FACTv. They also have a social media presence on Facebook - @FACTvFitchburg and YouTube - @FACTv City of Fitchburg.
