[ARCHIVED] Now Accepting Citizen's Police Academy Applications

Have you ever wondered what it's like to be a police officer? Are you interested in learning more about the role the police department plays in our community?

We invite you to apply for our ninth Citzen's Police Academy class which begins in September.

The academy is designed to give participants an inside look at our department and increase our community's understanding of the roles we play in the community.

The academy meets one night a week for nine weeks and provides participants with hands-on learning experiences in several topics including: Emergency Vehicle Operations Control, Defensive and Arrest Tactics and Firearms.

Classroom lecture and discussion focus on an overview of the department and issues related to drugs and gangs in the community.

Participants will get to try their skills during a session of scenarios similar to what police recruits encounter at the law enforcement academy. Included in the academy experience is a ride-along with a patrol officer.

The Citizen's Academy is open to:
•Fitchburg residents
•Fitchburg business owners
•Employees of businesses within Fitchburg.

Applications are due July 14th.
