[ARCHIVED] Burglary/Theft from Autos 19-11013

fpd media release

On July 30, 2019, at approximately 12:14 a.m., Fitchburg police officers responded to the 3000 block of Hartwicke Dr. for a report of a burglary that had just occurred.  While officers were searching the area for the suspects, a separate report of suspicious activity was made in the 2800 block of Brian Ln.  The caller reported seeing two suspects entering vehicles and possibly stealing from them.

Fitchburg officers responded to this area and located the two suspects, who both fled from police on foot.  One suspect, a 14 year old female, was captured.  A K9 track was conducted to attempt to locate the other suspect, but he was not found.  In addition to the crimes on Hartwicke Dr. and Brian Ln., a theft from automobile in the 3000 block of Purdy Station was also connected to these suspects.

The captured suspect was brought to the Juvenile Reception Center on tentative charges of burglary, theft, and resisting an officer.  The Fitchburg Police Department was assisted by the Verona Police Department, the Town of Madison Police Department, and the Dane County Sheriff’s Office.
