This Sunday, over 2,000 athletes from around the globe will participate in the IRONMAN Wisconsin triathlon.

A portion of the 112 mile bicycle course travels through the City of Fitchburg. Ironman North America has contracted with the Fitchburg Police Department to provide traffic control at several intersections during the event. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes if possible.

While bicyclists are on the course there may be delays at the following intersections identified in the attached map:

•Fitchburg Road & Whalen Road
•Fish Hatchery Road & Whalen Road
•Caine Road & Whalen Road
•Irish Lane & Caine Road
•Syene Road & Irish Lane
•Syene Road & Lacy Road
•Syene Road & E Cheryl Parkway
•CTH MM & McCoy Road

When there are no bicyclists on the course or when there are sufficient breaks, motorists can proceed through the intersections as normal.

Please refer to the map for more information on the route and detours.

Please also be aware the route through Fitchburg is just a portion of the complete route. Travel in surrounding areas of Fitchburg, may also be impacted by the event.
