[ARCHIVED] Mayor Awards Recognition

Mayor Aaron Richardson will honor and recognize long-time community member Jeanie Sieling, Fitchburg business Promega Corporation, and Fitchburg city employee Mike Zimmerman at a special reception at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16th at the Fitchburg Senior Center (lower level).

Mayor Richardson is recognizing these recipients for their community leadership, inspiring service to the community, setting an example for others, and their commitment to and significant impact on Fitchburg.  Jeanie Sieling has been an integral part of many major Fitchburg milestones. She was on the town board when Fitchburg decided to become a city and elected the second Mayor of Fitchburg. Over the years, she has also been involved in major projects like creating the senior center and building the Fitchburg library. Few people, if any, have had more of an impact on Fitchburg than Jeanie has.

Promega has been an important part of Fitchburg for a long time. You could say both Promega and Fitchburg have grown together. Promega is not only a great business providing many jobs; they have a huge impact in the community. They sponsor many events like the Fitchburg Farmer’s Market and the Agora Art Fair. They have been involved in a wide range of projects that make Fitchburg a great place to live and work.

Mike Zimmerman has been with the city over 20 years and his impact is felt everywhere. As the Economic Development Director, he has been essential in the growth of the city. Everyone in the business community in Fitchburg, Dane County and throughout the state know Mike and know how lucky Fitchburg is to have him. The vibrant and healthy business community in Fitchburg would not exist without Mike.

The awards will be presented at 5:15 p.m. in the Stoner Prairie Dining Room. The public is invited to attend.
