On Friday, December 6, 2019, around 8:14 p.m., officers from the Fitchburg Police Department, along with personnel from Fitchburg Fire Rescue, and Fitchrona EMS, responded to the Sub-Zero, located at 6061 Basswood Drive for a report of a pulse-less, non-breathing patient. The patient, an employee of Sub-Zero, was trapped in a piece of manufacturing equipment.
The entrapped patient was extricated by the Fire Department and, after medical evaluation, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The incident is under investigation by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Fitchburg Police Department, and the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office, along with representatives from Sub-Zero.
Information regarding the employee’s identity will be released by the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office at a later time.
At this point, the incident appears to be accidental in nature and no further information is available for release at this time.
