On Tuesday July 23, 2020, at approximately 12:44am, Officers from the Fitchburg Police Department responded to the intersection of King James Way and Norfolk Dr. after receiving multiple calls of shots fired in the area.
Upon arrival, Officers contacted two separate residents reporting their homes were struck by gunfire. One resided in the 5600 block of Norfolk Dr. and the other in the 2900 block of King James Way. The bullets that struck the houses entered occupied rooms. The house on King James contained several small children in the room that was struck. Fortunately, no one was injured in either residence.
It is not believed that the residences that were hit by the gunfire were the intended targets. One witness described a silver car fleeing the area at a high rate of speed after the shooting. No other suspects have been identified as of this time.
