Incident Details:
An 18-year-old man was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after being shot early Sunday morning in the 6000 block of Viroqua Drive.
Around 4:40 a.m., Fitchburg Police officers responded to an apartment on Viroqua Drive for a report of a person who was shot. Officers learned several people were present in the apartment when multiple shots were fired through a window, striking the man.
The preliminary evidence indicates the shots were fired from a suspect or suspects who walked up to the apartment. This incident is believed to be a targeted shooting.
The victim remains at the hospital in serious condition.
Officers from the City of Madison and City of Verona Police Departments assisted at the scene.
The incident is under active investigation and there is no further information available for public release at this time.
