[ARCHIVED] 2021 Assessment Cycle Has Begun

Fitchburg's Assessing Department has begun the 2021 assessment cycle. Properties are viewed for various reasons:

• Sale reviews
• Changes due to building permits
• Fire damage and/or repairs
• Owner request for review
• Periodic reviews, etc.

If you receive a letter requesting the Assessing Department view your property, please contact the Assessing Department at 608-270-4235.

Due to COVID-19, a variety of viewing options are being offered:

✔ Zoom visits for those with the technology. You would need would a mobile device with a camera (phone, laptop, tablet) where you could talk with Assessing staff and show them the property. You would need internet access. Assessing will email a Zoom link about a day before the scheduled appointment. The owner would click on the link at their scheduled appointment time and an appraiser would view the property and take notes from the office. The meeting will not be recorded.

✔ Exterior visits can be done and the interior can be verified by discussing our data with the owner via phone.

✔ Interior walk through's are still being offered for those that are comfortable. Assessing staff request all parties to wear masks and the owner open all doors and turn on all light switches. Assessing staff prefer not to touch any surfaces within the property.

We need to keep everyone as safe as possible, while still completing are required duties. Please call the Assessing Department at 608-270-4235 with any questions, concerns, or suggestions.
