With the arrival of another snowfall, we would like to share a few winter related reminders regarding property crime prevention and safety:
•Never leave your car unlocked, running and unattended. We know it’s no fun to start your day in a cold car, but it’s better than starting your day with no car at all. Even if it’s just for a few seconds, don’t leave your car running and unlocked.
•Headed outside to play or shovel? Keep your garage door closed if it's not in eyeshot. It takes just a few seconds for someone to enter your garage and leave with a car
•Remember alternate side parking restrictions are in effect from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m.. These restrictions assist our Public Works crews as they work to clear snow and ice from our roadways. More information related to alternate side parking can be found here: https://www.fitchburgwi.gov/1087/Parking
•City ordinance requires property owners to remove snow & ice from sidewalks no later than 6 p.m. on the day after the accumulation. Concerns related to sidewalk snow removal can be directed to the building inspection department. Submit a concern via the Report a Concern button on the city's website: www.fitchburgwi.gov or call (608)270-4242.
•Take a few minutes to ensure you remove all snow and ice from your vehicle before you hit the road. Completely clearing your vehicle helps you see and be seen while also keeping other drivers safe from falling snow and ice.
