Details:
Juwan Wilson, who was wanted for a 2020 shots fired incident in Fitchburg, had his initial court appearance today in Dane County Circuit Court on charges of first-degree recklessly endangering safety and possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a felony. Wilson was arrested in Chicago last week by members of the United States Marshals Service Great Lakes Regional Task Force and extradited to Dane County for the charges stemming from the shots fired incident. Wilson also had a felony warrant for his arrest for violating the conditions of his extended supervision through the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
The original incident occurred around 5:00 p.m. on October 22, 2020, when Fitchburg officers responded to the 2300 block of Post Road for reports of a person firing multiple rounds at a vehicle driving on Post Road. Responding officers located multiple shell casings and noted the high degree of concern for public safety based on the incident's proximity to a number of apartments, residences, an elementary school, and a park. Investigators from the Fitchburg Police Department developed probable cause to arrest Wilson for the October 2020 incident and began searching for him last month (see previous release below).
Personnel from the Fitchburg Police Department are continuing to work with investigators from other local law enforcement agencies to determine what connections, if any, this incident may have to other shots fired incidents over the last year.
