A 19-year-old Town of Madison man was arrested today on numerous charges stemming from an armed robbery in Fitchburg last week. On Friday, March 18, Fitchburg officers responded to the 2800 block of Oregon Road for a reported robbery. The victim told officers he was robbed of a gun and money during an arranged meeting with a known individual.
Officers were able to identify the individual as Katoine Richardson and develop probable cause for his arrest. Earlier today, Fitchburg Police personnel were assisted by the Madison Police Department, the Dane County Sheriff’s Office, and the Wisconsin Department of Justice - Division of Criminal Investigation in the arrest of Richardson. A search of Richardson’s property led to the discovery of marijuana, boxes of ammunition, loaded gun magazines, and the gun stolen during the robbery.
Richardson was booked into the Dane County Jail on tentative charges of armed robbery, possession of a firearm by an adjudicated delinquent, endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon, theft of a firearm while armed, six counts of misdemeanor bail jumping, and four counts of felony bail jumping. Additional charges, including possession with intent to deliver marijuana, receiving stolen property, and bail jumping, will be referred to the Dane County District Attorney’s Office. Richardson was free on a cash bond for ten open criminal cases at the time of his arrest.
