[ARCHIVED] All Burning is Prohibited due to High Fire Risk

Due to fire weather conditions, all burning is prohibited in the City of Fitchburg. Therefore, there will be no burning permits issued until further notice.

This decision has been based upon the warning from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources regarding the high fire danger in the south-central part of the state. The risk for fire predicted for Tuesday through Thursday. On Friday, rain is expected to pass through the area reducing the fire risk.

Due to the forecast for sustained winds with stronger gusts, low humidity and warm weather; the DNR has suspended all burning permits in Dane County. If you have any questions please contact the Fitchburg Fire Department at 608-278-2980.
