Following the retirement of K9 Chase in 2016, the Fitchburg Police Department is pleased to announce we are ready for our next K9. We are grateful for the strong community support of our police department and we ask for your continued support as we embark on a fundraising effort for a new K9. Our goal for this campaign is to raise $27,000 for the purchase of a new K9, equipment and training for the K9 and handler.
We would like to purchase a “dual-purpose” K9, trained in police patrol work and narcotics detection. We feel a dual-purpose K9 brings the most benefit to our community. A dual-purpose K9 will assist the department and the community in a variety of functions including: community relations, officer and citizen safety, tracking of lost individuals and suspects, locating evidence and detecting narcotics.
Monetary donations for the cost of the new K9 team will be accepted online, by mail and in-person. For more information on how to donate, visit: www.fitchburgwi.gov/police or http://www.fitchburgwi.gov/369/K-9-Team. Information is also available online if you’re interested in supporting the mission and needs of the K9 team through an in-kind donation of goods or services.
