The City of Fitchburg Fire Department will be hosting an informational meeting for people interested in becoming Paid-On-Call Firefighters on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 7:00pm. This session will be held at Fitchburg Firehouse #1 at 5791 Lacy Road.
We will discuss the operations of the Fitchburg Fire Department and the role and responsibilities of the Paid-On-Call Firefighter. There will also be ample time allocated to answer your questions, both as a group and individually.
You must meet the following requirements to be a Paid-On-Call Firefighter for the City of Fitchburg:
- 18 years of age
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Live within the City of Fitchburg, if not a certified firefighter
- Possess a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Wisconsin
- No felony convictions
- Not subject to restrictions that would interfere with firefighting duties
Firefighters for the City of Fitchburg are required to have a minimum of State of Wisconsin Firefighter 1 certification, however, if you are a resident of the City of Fitchburg, we will provide the tuition, books and the equipment needed for you to attend the firefighter certification training.
