Anton Drive Shooting Investigation Update

Details:

Shortly after noon Wednesday, the Fitchburg Police Department, assisted by the Dane County Sheriff's Office Tactical Response Team, conducted a search warrant at a home in the Village of Oregon. Personnel from the Oregon Police Department also assisted at the scene.

The warrant was served as part of the ongoing investigation into a shooting that occurred Monday on Anton Drive. An 18-year-old male suspect was taken into custody during the search warrant. He was later booked into the Dane County Jail for a probation violation. Charges related to the shooting incident are expected to be referred to the Dane County District Attorney's Office.

The investigation into the shooting incident remains open and active. There is no further information available for release at this time.

Around 7:00 p.m. Monday, officers from the Madison Police Department responded to an address in the City of Madison for a report of a person shot. The victim, a 25-year-old man, was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. As the investigation evolved, it was determined the man had been shot in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 5100 block of Anton Drive in the City of Fitchburg.

Officers from the Fitchburg Police Department took over the investigation and located the shooting scene on Anton Drive. While at the scene, officers learned that a bullet fired during the incident had gone through a window of an occupied apartment nearby. No injuries were reported in the apartment.

Initial information discovered through the investigation indicated that the victim was not randomly targeted in this incident.

The investigation remains open and active. No additional information is available for release at this time.
